You can develop for Android on OSX, windows or Linux, one of the many reasons it’s kicking the iphones ass. Apple fanboys, post bitchy comments below. Moral of the story, who gives a shit if you're a mac, PC, or really sexy and use Linux, just start building something. But, let’s go over a few things. Number one, all browsers are not created equal. Find me on: ⚡️ http://twitter.com/shpadrian ⚡️ http://instagram.com/shpadrian Next up we have the IDE or the integrated development environment or shortly code editor. So my favourite choice when it comes to IDE’s is …. WebStorm. WebStorm is an JavaScript IDE create by JetBrains, this guys have the most awesome code editors for programming, they have an independent software for each language. So I use WebStorm because it supports JavaScript, and every framework you could think of, like react js, vue, angular, and the list goes on. If you are coding in a different language like python or php they have the product you need, the links are down below. All IDEs are supported on windows, mac os and linux. Unfortunately you have to pay for their products, but when you are working as a freelancer and you charge hourly every single second that you save with a code editor is pretty much a good investment. I used to think that a lot of tools are dispensable and you throw money out of your window but as soon as i’ve seen the time and how organised I can be, and the confidence by just spending a couple bucks on an app.. it’s pretty amazing. Also worth mentioning JetBrains offer their products for free if you are a student. I also use Visual Studio Code for programming and this one is open source which means is absolutely free. I use this mainly when I code simple tasks like coding up a landing page, or static websites because I personally find it a bit difficult and uncomfortable when working on large projects with your team. This is just a personal opinion, please don’t throw rocks at me. Visual Studio Code is available on all platforms. Before moving on, I just want to clarify that using a better code editor doesn’t make you automatically a better programmer, it will just save you time when it’s worth saving. What I mean by that is before buying monthly subscriptions or even hardware make sure that the time you save with this tools it’s worth more than the actual investment. Do a quick math, if you save an average of 30 minutes per day by using paid product you will save 11 hours per month. Think about how much money you can make in 11 hours and if the monthly expense is lower than that, you are pretty much on the plus side! Next app is called Postman. I use postman for developing API’s by testing out requests a lot faster than you would do normally. It has a very intuitive and beautiful UI and it basically makes your life easier if you work with API’s frequently. It’s available on every platform and they even have an chrome extension. If you have worked with designers before I’m sure you’ve heard about Sketch — it’s used mainly to design interfaces, and also they have some pretty good prototyping features if you are interested about that. This is the software that pretty much forced me switch to macOS, but this doesn’t have to be the case for you mainly because I also do digital product design for mobile apps and web apps as well, and it’s pretty much an bargain compared to Photoshop when it comes time saved. If you are interested about apps like sketch on windows or linux adobe launched an product similar to this called Adobe XD. You only have to pay once to download Sketch compared to adobe’s monthly subscription. Also if you are a student they have some discounts. ImageOptim is a small app only for macOS and I use this for optimising and compressing images for web. It’s not a indispensable app, you could use a lot of alternatives for optimising images like Photoshop, Sketch and so on. inVision — Invision is an collaborative app mainly for designers who want to gather feedback from their own team or clients. I use inVision on a daily basis to get the confirmation on designs before starting to code the website. It saves me from a lot of unnecessary work. When it comes to communicating with remote clients or team I use HipChat. This app is cross platform, and it’s developed by attlasian, the king of productivity apps for programmers, make sure you check out their products! As productivity apps I use 2Do. This is macOS exclusive app that I use to organise my schedule, because I’m a pretty messy person when it comes to dates and I forget things like team meetings, or a movie someone just mentioned or I even bookmark some articles or books, that I absolutely need to read.

Whenever talking about building a website it always seems to circle back to this one question, "Should I hand code or use a Content Management System." So, if you're wondering, "Should I use WordPress or HTML?" Press play. When it comes to content management systems there are a lot to choose from. Take your pic, Wordpress, Squarespace, and even wix. On the other hand, coding from scratch is a great way to get exactly (ok not exactly) what you want. So, when should you use html vs Squarespace, WordPress, or some other CMS? The only thing you really need to dominate on the internet is a computer that’s hooked up to the internet, plus willpower to not look at porn, youtube and reddit all day and actually learn to code. Your operating system doesn’t matter, unless you want to build an iphone app, then you need Mac OSX. If you are watching this lesson on Internet Explorer, stop everything and download firefox or chrome. Remember, friends don’t let friends use Internet Explorer. Chrome is fast, and has great developer tools plus lots of awesome add ons to help you out. Firefox is great for the same reasons. Open chrome and inspect a page, with developer tools the front end code that is creating the page is visible. We see the HTML and the CSS making it sexy, like all this (gesture). We can even change things in real time. It’s like x-ray vision for the web. Bet you wish it worked on me too? You can even copy and paste code, like Picasso and Steve Jobs said, good artists copy, great artists steal. Just don’t be a dick about it. Think more like reading other peoples code is a great way to learn. Next, you can’t write code with Word processors. You need a text editor. For PC, Sublime or notepad++, if you are on mac there are a few more good ones, Sublime again, texmate, MacVim and others. Sublime is the new hotness in the developer community and you won’t go wrong with it. When programming you’ll spend most of your time thinking, not writing code, so just pick a damn text editor and get on with it. Then we need two more things, a way to run it on your computer, known as local development and a way to get it up to wherever you get some server hosting. To run your code locally, just means running it on your computer. To set this up you can download WAMP for windows or MAMP for mac. The AMP stands for Apache, mySQL and PHP. These programs set up the server stack on your computer, then you put your code in the correct directory and your computer acts as the server. Now your site runs without being connected to the internet and you can test stuff before moving it to your live site. To move your code use an FTP program, we recommend CyberDuck, which works on Mac and PC. This program gives you an interface to move files to your server. We’ll talk about where to get your domain name and server next. Stick around.

EDIT: With all the negative feedback this video gets, I really should change the name to "How NOT to Use 6 Monitors." But hey, hope you enjoy watching me enjoy my setup. Cheers! ---------------------- Original Description: Any time someone sees my personal computer setup, I always get the question, "why do you have 6 monitors?" Well, yes, I am a bit of a gamer, but I only game on one screen (the bottom middle 27"). I have 6 monitors for the productivity benefits it provides. While working on a website for a client, I decided to record a short time-lapse of my coding process. Throughout the video, you'll notice I will utilize all 6 monitors. One has YouTube videos on it (as I almost always have videos playing while I code), but the other 5 get used for different things. I've found that this setup does allow me to work faster, as I can have multiple things open and I don't have to hunt around on my task bar for items that I need to pull up quickly, I can have them on different screens and either look at them or grab them quickly and move them to a better working location. Yes, I know it is excessive, and frankly, I think it is worth it. The monitors were all bought at various times over the last 4 years, I spread the investment out over time, and I purchased the 6 monitor stand because it was a good deal and provides a a very nice work space. If you have any questions about my setup, or how to create something similar, please feel free to ask in the comments down below! How much money I make as a Web Developer and as Web Designer Hey there guys, i’m Adrian Manea and In this video I’d like to talk about money and more specifically how much money I make as a web developer. First let’s narrow things down, because web developer is a vast word combination. I currently work as a front end developer and designer for my small company which I own with a friend of mine. We are basically contractors for medium and big projects, specialised on web apps. So the question is how much money I make strictly if i was an employee of a company like mine. What I want to add up here is that everyone had a very awkwardly moment when a client asks for a quote of how much would take for a design work or develop work and you would ask yourself, how much should I price him, do I look confident enough to ask for more, should I just tell him a number that i’m sure he will take because I need the money, i don’t know. The sad part is that most of freelancers go for the second option and charge a lot less than they should just because they don’t feel confident enough with their knowledge. And yes mostly are from undeveloped countries and don’t have a solid finance education, which you might say that they are destroying the market, i say well yes and not really. Why? Because a big client with big budget knows that hiring someone very good and confident that charges like 700 hundred dollars per day is a much better investment for the long time. As a disclaimer, i do these a lot just to cover my ass from the trolls out here. data might vary based on country you live in. Currently I live in Romania, but our market is strictly international which gives me the advantage in this video to cover the bigger picture.

Top 6 best laptops for developers, programmers and coders. Chosen by price-performance: 1. Microsoft Surface Book: Amazon links: US: http://amzn.to/2EdAiF2 UK: http://amzn.to/2C42lRH (*Intel i7-6660U 3.4 GHz) DE: http://amzn.to/2FRjcwK (*Intel i7-6660U 3.4 GHz) When it comes to development, heavy programming and coding, with all the multi-tasking, and different software we have to use, we're primarily looking for something with a fast processor, good amount of RAM, SSD storage and a good quality keyboard. Depending on exactly what kind of job you're up to - especially for game developers, software engineers and/or web developers doing the design stuff themselves, also a dedicated graphics card comes in handy. Microsoft Surface Book has it all. It's an incredibly fast, all-around machine, capable of a ridiculously high amount of multiprocessing. While it may seem a little bit pricey, the quality it offers is definitely worth it. Some folks didn't believe Surface Books at first, but with this model, Microsoft nailed it. Intel Core i7 (2.6 GHz) 16 GB RAM 512 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB GDDR5 13.5" PixelSense Display (3000x2000px) (Surface Pen included) 2. Apple MacBook Pro MLW72LL/A: Amazon links: US: http://amzn.to/2mTOExT DE: http://amzn.to/2tIwze6 (*Radeon Pro 450) UK: http://amzn.to/2nKIClv (*MLW72B/A with Radeon Pro 450 2GB) Not only Mac's are a good choice because of their durability and quality, but it is also a necessity if you're going to develop anything for iOS. While as a work station MacBook Pro will be a better choice, you could also consider the more budget friendly MacBook Air, coming next.. 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz ) 16 GB RAM 256 GB SSD Intel HD Graphics 530 Retina Display: 13.3" (2560 x 1600px) or 15.4" (2880x1800px) Mac OS Sierra 3. Apple MacBook Air MMGG2LL/A: Amazon links: US: http://amzn.to/2GYderP (*OS X El Capitan) UK: http://amzn.to/2EtzEmj (*OS Sierra) DE: http://amzn.to/2pa1tqg (* MMGG2D/A - OS X El Capitan) The lighter and more affordable MacBook Air. Great option, if you're constantly on a move. It's battery's life is truly impressive. 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 2.7 GHz) with 3 MB shared L3 cache 8 GB of 1600 MHz LPDDR3 RAM 256 GB PCIe-based flash storage Intel HD Graphics 6000 13.3" (1440 x 900px) Up to 12 Hours of Battery Life OS X El Capitan 4. ASUS K501UW-AB78: Amazon links: US: http://amzn.to/2o3PisR DE: http://amzn.to/2HvTVFP (*K501UW DM009T - 256 GB SSD + 1TB HDD) Now, this particular laptop is like made for programming and coding work. Skylake processor and 512GB SSD - yes! And a big highlight is it's super handy and quiet keyboard. Not to mention, that overall Asus is a well loved and trusted brand. Skylake Intel Core i7-6500U 2.5GHz (Turbo up to 3.1GHz) 8GB RAM 512GB SSD Storage NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 15.6" Full HD Screen Up to 6-hour battery life 5. Dell Latitude 7000: Amazon links: US: http://amzn.to/2msdloT UK: http://amzn.to/2FVjZsZ The Dell Latitude 7000 series are quite popular lately. There are different versions of it, this being presented as an entry level gaming laptop, but how can you say no to the 4GB GeForce? Only if you're looking for something lighter with a longer battery life and don't do anything graphic related. However, I chose the functionality from the work-power perspective for this top. Its quad-core processor is another big plus. Intel i5-6300HQ 2.3 GHz Quad-Core (6M Cache, Turbo up to 3.2 GHz) 8 GB RAM (Max Support 16GB) 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5 15.6" Full HD Display 6. Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Amazon links: US: http://amzn.to/2o3WYLL UK: http://amzn.to/2C26fdz (*E5-575G-57D4 with i5-7200U) DE: http://amzn.to/2FwDyMy (*A515 51g 520Q with i5-7200U) Yep! The best budget laptop for developers, programmers and coders. You won't find other offer with those specs for that price. This is how the Acer is keeping up - purely by giving away their stuff so cheap, that it's a serious option, if limited by budget. Very good laptop for programming students. Intel Core i5-6200U Processor (Up to 2.8GHz) 8GB DDR4 RAM 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 15.6" Full HD Display Backlit Keyboard Up to 12-hours Battery Life --------------------------------------------- This was the Best Laptop for Delevopers Top 6 - Best Laptops for Programming, Coding and Development (2017) --------------------------------------------- Music used: TeknoAXE - Yellow Jacket Revenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfL1DBqqwIY

15 Best Music for Programmers while Coding. Get !false Tshirt from Here: https://teespring.com/programmer-joke-false-2882 A programmer, computer programmer, developer, dev, coder, or software engineer is a person who writes computer software. The term computer programmer can refer to a specialist in one area of computer programming or to a generalist who writes code for many kinds of software. One who practices or professes a formal approach to programming may also be known as a programmer analyst. A programmer's primary computer language Assembly, COBOL, C, C++, C#, Java, Lisp, Python, etc. is often prefixed to these titles, and those who work in a Web environment often prefix their titles with Web. The term programmer can be used to refer to a software developer, Web developer, mobile applications developer, embedded firmware developer, software engineer, computer scientist, or software analyst. However, members of these professions possess other software engineering skills, beyond programming; for this reason, the term programmer, or code monkey, is sometimes considered an insulting or derogatory oversimplification of these other professions. This has sparked much debate amongst developers, analysts, computer scientists, programmers, and outsiders who continue to be puzzled at the subtle differences in the definitions of these occupations.
